In June 2023 Friends of Monze trustees joined our Monze based partners Zambia Women and Girls Foundation to visit schools in Monze. Teachers told us they were concerned about some pupils not being able to see the blackboard.  

Monze District is dry and windy, dust gets in children’s eyes causing infection and scars.

We arranged for a team of 5 health workers, including the eye Doctor to visit schools monthly to conduct eye tests.

They test children and community members. About threequarters of children are given treatment to prevent infection damaging their eyesight.
