Nabukuyu School Permaculture Garden

Nabukuyu School is a big zonal school in a rural area. Children come from the surrounding farming community, so the children and their families have a keen interest in growing food. We introduced Mr Mugove to the school. We were asked for help with a fence as the cabbages were being eaten by goats as fast as the school could plant them. The school has a good water supply so we also provided a drip feed irrigation system to water vegetables.

The school permaculture committee has gone from strength to strength, they are experts in identifying and using indigenous plants. They replicate seeds which are then exchanged with a Zambia wide network of school gardens.

The permaculture committee have learned to make soap using goats milk, we have purchased some soap and distributed it to schools to help prevent the spread of covid-19
